It could be that smart parents are also rich or that? they send their kids to better schools.

Y'know, I am in a small way involved? in the fight against these bastard plutocrats. But the longer I've been doing this, the more I feel we're screwed. These types'll just throw money at society until they crush whatever rights normal people have. And they'll laugh off any protests. Fuck they'd probably laugh off a revolution and just use it to establish direct fascism, or they'll just escape to South America with the loot or something. In the long run, it seems like a bleak future to me.

Is feudalism the natural state of humanity or something? Because it seems the only people willing to actually fight seem to be itching to fight FOR the 1%. And the rest has all the right intentions, but how many of them would fight if they got crushed even further? Eh, not that I think today's generation could stand against the 1%, they all think their tough individualists. (AKA easily stomped out if they get out of line, because they don't care about others and others don't care about them.)?

Just like Medieval times the government and? 1% nobility own the rest of us. Nothing is new under the sun. The same evil is being repeated throughout history by the same powers.
By: LBOROststudios. on 25 Feb 12, 18:08:27
They only just found that out? in the USA? In the UK we've known about that for DECADES...
By: thesparitan. on 21 Feb 12, 03:27:37
Yes, its some kind of glitch.? Thank Google's eggheads for these lovely failures.
By: interstate317. on 16 Feb 12, 21:57:07
WHAT? a 200 character limit? Is anyone else getting this??
By: interstate317. on 16 Feb 12, 21:50:20
but we are talking about the achievement gap between? high school kids, so its not relevant.
By: rossiej. on 15 Feb 12, 22:54:38
isn't it? pronounced A-fluent (accent on the A as in Apple or better yet Ana)
By: TheNavigateur. on 14 Feb 12, 20:02:54
I did Google it before I even answered. No solid threshold for what qualifies as financial help from parents, just pure conjecture about it, or outright? deliberate smoke and mirrors.

TYT didn't address the fact that the mere cost of education, especially higher education, has skyrocketed over the past decade. Without loans and grants (or if you're talented enough to get a scholarship), college is out of the reach of all but the very wealthy. ? Just like health care. The average college grad comes out of school tens of thousands of dollars in debt.
By: interstate317. on 14 Feb 12, 14:54:45
really? So the Military Industrial? Complex was just ALWAYS there?
By: javixm. on 14 Feb 12, 13:45:13
I'm not talking about Romney. I haven't studied his life at all. Google: how many millionaires are first generation rich Click the top link, it should be a NYT article. Read that.?
By: TheNavigateur. on 14 Feb 12, 12:42:10
Do you count Mitt Romney as first-generation rich? Are you talking about people who had ZERO financial help from their parents? Some help is still help. There's no way of suitably thresholding that measurement? unless you're talking about a figure of absolutely zero. Otherwise you're talking out of your ass.

I thought it was the case, but the term "socialized government"? irked me. "Socialized" and "Socialist" are sometimes used very broadly and without understanding, just buzzwords. I can agree governments practice socialism to a "degree," but imo it is a meaningless claim. Generally, socialism means the public controls "means of production" or other institutions. A government, by definition, has to govern over something - and in a democracy, a government represents the public.

Not going to make me love Republicans more are less i hate this pigs. And Obama hasn't contuned everything Bush? started it seems that way to you. He did try to close the Prison over Seas but this cowards in the States didn't want to take them for fear.!!

how does free college make people lose? out? PLease explain this. And don't pretend like there aren't countries out there that are doing free university and aren't successful because they are very successful..
By: JIYkp. on 14 Feb 12, 06:21:40
Well, it has less to do with how much time you spend raising them, and more to do with the attitude you raise them to have towards certain things. For example: spending money to save? time vs. spending time to save money

The real divide is between those who have opportunities and those who don't. ? Opportunities can come in different ways, but they don't come to everyone equally.
By: BioCapsule. on 14 Feb 12, 04:11:52
This is your comment: (& it not a reply to someone) "Does TYT advocate a classless society? I would argue free enterprise has built the great standard of living in America. The poor in America? are rich compared to other backwards countries." It was follow by mine & a few other saying TYT didn't... I however never brought up pure socialism in reply to u, u are the one that say "it seems you think I? said democrats are socialist". U put words in my mouth, I didn't. Idiot

The ignorance here is? astounding.
By: javixm. on 14 Feb 12, 03:45:32
I call bullshit on this whole "the playing field isn't equal". Over 50% of the rich people in America are FIRST GENERATION rich. That means they made their fortunes BY THEMSELVES, not inherited. So don't give me this "inequality" bullshit. Stop blaming other people for your financial situation. Get off your ass and do something. If you want to be rich, GO DO IT. Start your own business and DO NOT REST until you're rich. Haven't you read a single rich person's biography? Can't you see?!?
By: imRyRy. on 14 Feb 12, 03:21:20
I meant a government? that runs socialized organization. The government is practicing socialism to a certain degree. Socialized healthcare, etc. Not hard to understand. Even if my semantics were a bit off, I'm surprised you still didn't comprehend what I was saying.
By: TheShamanSZ. on 14 Feb 12, 01:09:14
I'm not sure how you define "socialized"? government. "Socialized" usually means "under government or society control." In the came of government, the first is a tautology (government under government control?) and the second - government under society control - is what I'd call "democracy;)".
