Do you honestly think she thought that? She said that he rode because he wanted to warn the British, and he never rung bells or fired warning shots?

Paul? Revere didn't "ride his horse through town" to "warn the British". And no "part of his ride" was intended to warn the British. He was captured by the British and he told his British captors that he had "alarmed the Country". He wouldn't have "warned" the British, or told the British anything, if they hadn't captured him. He certainly didn't ring any bells or send any warning shots.

I think the real problem with Palin, verbally, is that she thinks parenthetically (much as I do). This is difficult to follow while listening, but try this punctuation... "He, who warned the British that they weren't going to be taking away our? arms (by ringing those bells) and making sure (as he's riding his horse through town - to send those warning shots and bells) that; -we were going to be secure (and) -we? were going to be free (and ) -we were going to be armed." . . Listen again.

Except Paul Revere wasn't the? one ringing church bells and firing warning shots.

@Bexly: Boston University History Professor, Brendan McConville: "the British are aware? as they're marching down the countryside, they hear church bells ringing ? she was right about that ? and warning shots being fired. That's accurate."

@Jayoung1000: No, Palin was correct on all statements. Boston University History Professor, Brendan McConville said Palin was accurate on Revere warning the British & all the others: "the British are aware as they're marching down? the countryside, they hear church bells ringing ? she was right about that ? and warning shots being fired. That's accurate."

I'm still waiting for her to explain the "ringing bells" and "firing guns." It is quite clear that she didn't know what she was talking about. It's like when a psychic tells you several things but only one statement is true, you have a tendency to forget about all of the misses. She got lucky and one piece of what she said was true, but certainly not all of it. And when? taken as a whole she clearly wasn't talking about the same incident.

NPR All things considered June 6, 2011 BLOCK [NPR]: So you? think basically, on the whole, Sarah Palin got her? history right. Prof. ALLISON: Well, yeah, she did. And remember, she is a politician. She's not an historian. And God help us when historians start acting like politicians, and I suppose when politicians start writing history. .. BLOCK [NPR] : Professor Robert Allison is chair of the history department at Suffolk University in Boston.

ANOTHER PALIN BLUNDER: PAUL REVERE WAS NOT A COURIER, HE WAS A SILVERSMITH. She DOES NOT know her history, as she claimed on Fox news. The purpose of the midnight ride was to? QUIETLY warn others the British ("Regulars") were? coming, No bells or gun shots. Her followers? want to change history on Wikipedia so she doesn't look stupid? WTF! They argue he warned the British upon his capture, AFTER the midnight ride. He told them false truths. He was a Patriot, not a Traitor!?

Come on now.. you know she didn't really know that. Someone did some research for her after the fact and said "oh... you can back yourself up by using this." Sarah Palin wasn't aware that Africa is a continent...? she didn't know the countries involved in NAFTA... there's no way in HELL she knew that Paul Revere said anything to British officers.

At the very least she confused the romanticized version with the actual events, unless you believe that after his capture the British gave him bells and a gun with which to communicate his "warning" to them. If she even understood Revere was captured before reaching town, what streets was he riding through while in captivity?? FAIL!
